How we handle your information when you book a tour or get in touch

Who we are
Egypt Tour and Adventure is a tour operator based in Cairo, Egypt. We arrange private tours, Nile cruises and desert trips for travellers visiting Egypt. This policy explains what personal information we collect through egypttouradventure.com, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

What we collect
We only collect information you give us. We do not buy data about you from anyone else.
| Booking a tour | Your name, email address, phone and WhatsApp number, travel date, number of travellers, and anything you write in the special requests field. If you use a referral code, we store that code with the booking. |

| Payment | We are paid by bank transfer. We ask you to upload a copy of your transfer receipt so we can confirm the payment, and we store that image along with the date and the IP address it was uploaded from. We never see, collect or store your card number, CVV or online banking credentials. |
| Contacting us | Your name, email address, subject line and the content of your message. A phone number if you choose to give one. |
| Newsletter | Your email address, along with the language you were reading in and whether you signed up from the footer or from a blog post. No name is collected. |
| Creating an account | Your name, email address and a password, which is stored only as a one-way hash. If you sign in with Google instead, we receive your name, email address, profile picture and your Google account identifier. You may also add a phone number and country. |
| Leaving a review | The name and country you choose to publish, your rating and your review text. |
Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry and quote for your trip.
- To arrange and run the tour you booked, which means sharing your name and travel dates with the guides, drivers, hotels and cruise operators involved in your trip.
- To confirm your payment and send you a booking confirmation.
- To send you the newsletter, if you asked for it. To stop receiving it, reply to any of our emails with the word unsubscribe and we will remove you.
- To keep the site working, prevent abuse of our booking form, and keep a record of what our staff changed and when.
- To understand which pages and tours people are interested in — but only if you accepted cookies.
Cookies
We ask before setting anything that is not strictly necessary. If you decline, Google Analytics is not loaded and no analytics cookie is set.
Separately, our host Vercel measures page views and page speed on every visit. It runs whether or not you accept, because it sets no cookies and does not identify you individually.

| Google Analytics | Set only after you press Accept. Tells us how many people visit, which pages they read and which buttons they press. You can change your mind by clearing this site's data in your browser. |
Who else sees your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We use the following companies to run the site and our business, and your information reaches them only to the extent they need it:

| Provides sign-in with Google, if you choose it, and Google Analytics, if you accept cookies. | |
| Upstash | Holds your IP address briefly to limit how often our forms can be submitted, which stops automated abuse. |
| LibreTranslate | Translates page content into the other site languages. It receives the text being translated, not your personal information. |
| Content delivery networks | Amazon CloudFront and flagcdn.com serve the small flag images in the language switcher, so your browser connects to them. |
| Suppliers for your trip | The guides, drivers, hotels and cruise operators who deliver the tour you booked. |
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
Where your information is held
Our database is hosted in Ireland, inside the European Union. Our company is in Egypt, so our staff access your information from Egypt in order to arrange your trip. Some of the companies listed above operate internationally and may process data outside your own country.
How long we keep it
We keep booking records, including payment receipts, for as long as we need them to run the trip, answer questions afterwards, and meet our accounting and tax obligations. Enquiries and newsletter sign-ups are kept until you ask us to remove them. We do not currently delete old records automatically, so if you want yours removed, please ask and we will do it.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. To leave the newsletter, reply to any of our emails with the word unsubscribe.
There is no self-service button for this yet. Email info@egypttouradventure.com and we will deal with your request. We may need to keep some booking and payment records where the law requires it, and we will tell you if that applies.
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area and you are not satisfied with how we have handled your request, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
How we protect it
The site is served over HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, never as readable text. The admin area is restricted to authorised staff, payment receipts can only be opened by a signed-in administrator, and we keep an internal log of administrative changes. Our booking form is rate limited to prevent abuse.
No website can promise perfect security, and we will not claim otherwise. If a breach ever affects your information, we will tell you.
Children
The site is intended for adults booking travel. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If a child is travelling with you, we only need the details you give us to arrange the trip.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
