Les Trois Grandes Pyramides
Le complexe contient trois pyramides principales : la Grande Pyramide de Khéops (la plus grande), la Pyramide de Khafré (qui semble plus haute en raison de sa position élevée) et la Pyramide de Menkaure (la plus petite des trois). Chacun a pris environ 20 ans à construire.
Le Sphinx
Le Grand Sphinx de Gizeh est la plus grande statue monolithique du monde, taillée dans un seul bloc de calcaire. Il fait face à l'est, face au soleil levant. La plupart des égyptologues pensent qu'il représente le pharaon Khafré.
Conseils pratiques
- Arrivez tôt (portes ouvertes à 8h00) pour éviter la foule et la chaleur
- Embauchez un guide agréé - la différence d'expérience est immense
- Le droit d'entrée couvre le plateau ; entrer à l'intérieur des pyramides coûte un supplément
- Le musée du bateau solaire à côté de la Grande Pyramide vaut bien le supplément
- Habillez-vous confortablement et apportez une protection solaire – il y a très peu d'ombre
